Understanding Parameters
Learn how these dimensions affect your final quotation.
What is Perimeter (Cutting Path)?
The **Perimeter** is the total length of the path that the laser travels to cut your part. This includes the outer boundary as well as any internal holes or cutouts.
Cost Impact:
"More perimeter = More laser travel time = Higher cutting cost."
What is Area of Job (Net Area)?
Surface Area
**Area of Job** represents the actual surface area of the finished part. It is calculated by subtracting any internal holes from the main shape area.
Usage:
This value is used to determine the **Net Weight** of your part and the amount of coating/painting required.
What is Square Area (Bounding Box)?
The **Square Area** (or Bounding Box) is the area of the smallest rectangle that can contain your part. It is calculated as Max Length x Max Width.
Why it matters:
This helps us calculate the raw sheet metal required. The difference between Square Area and Job Area is considered **Scrap**.
How does Thickness affect the price?
**Thickness** is a critical variable. Thicker material requires more powerful laser settings, slower cutting speeds, and obviously weighs more. As thickness increases, the cost per millimeter of cutting also increases.

Read full policyPerimeter Info
The perimeter (cutting path) represents the total distance the laser or blade travels. For a circle, this is the circumference; for a rectangle, it is the sum of all four sides.
Area of Job Info
Area of Job represents the actual surface area of the finished part. It is calculated by subtracting any internal holes from the main shape area.
Square Area Info
The Square Area (or Bounding Box) is the area of the smallest rectangle that can contain your part. It is calculated as Max Length x Max Width. This determines the raw material usage.
Number of Bends Info
Number of Bends refers to the specific folding operations required for the part. Each bend requires setup time and machine operation, adding to the total cost.
Thickness Info
Thickness is the gauge of the material sheet. Thicker materials are stronger but require more powerful laser settings and slower cutting speeds, increasing the cost per millimeter.
